I came across SABF through one of my professors at university and after looking it up decided to apply because it intrigued me.
At first I had a trip planned for that summer, so I knew that if I applied it had to be the following year. But the day before that year’s applications to be part of the SABF team closed, my trip got cancelled. I was sad about it but at the same time, I thought of it as an opportunity. So I didn’t think twice and sent in my application to join the organizing team.
I had the interview and a few days later I got the call: I'd been selected to be part of the Student Relations department, which is in charge of promoting the conference worldwide, contacting the participants and guiding them through their journey to Argentina.
At the beginning I got a little nervous. As a software engineering student, I found that department challenging because it was such a different field. Now, looking back, I'm grateful to the person I was in 2024, who opened a new door when another one closed and accepted this amazing challenge.
I collaborated with great people who taught me not only how to work and be part of a team, sharing dreams and sometimes frustrations, but also how to rediscover myself.
Meeting people from all over the world with different values, cultures and thoughts has helped me find what drives me in life and uncover my potential. It has also shown me that no one is defined by a single label. We are made of many interests and passions at once, and all of them are worth chasing.
Another lesson I keep in my heart from this forum is that we can all be very different but similar at the same time. You end up sharing fears and passions with someone from the other side of the world, and discovering how much you have in common is what makes the distance disappear.
I discovered that I feel happiest and most alive when I listen to others and help them achieve their goals. That’s when I realized that success isn’t just about what we accomplish ourselves, but also about empowering others to shine.
In the 2026 edition of SABF I have the pleasure of being the head of the Information Technology department. This is my second year in SABF and I wanted to bring my own field into it and collaborate from a different perspective.
This past year has been just as rewarding. Not only did I get to revive my passion for software design, but I got to work with an incredible team that taught me things I'll carry with me forever.
Facing this edition, I'm excited about what's coming, and proud of these last two years, where I accepted the challenge and gave my best in every opportunity.
I hope everyone gets to feel about something as I feel about SABF, a community that not only introduced me to people whom I admire, but helped me redefine my purpose in life and my definition of success.
