The 2009 Edition of the “International Conference for the Integration of Science and Technology into Society” (ICISTS) will be held in South Korea from August 20 to August 23, 2009. ICISTS-KAIST is a conference dedicated to providing a platform where university students from around the world can gather and discuss matters of significance in the realm of science and technology and how they impact the society, not only with other students who have similar interests but also with professionals invited as speakers.
The ICISTS-KAIST is a collaborative effort of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the undergraduate students at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, to encourage the debate on critical scientific and technological issues affecting modern society.
This year, the conference consists of three workshops, each with its own parallel sessions. They are titled: Climate change, Human-computer Interaction and Nano-clinic. To attend the forum you must write an essay and, if accepted, pay a small registration fee. The application period ends on June 30th, however, as an international student, if you apply before May 31st, you will be eligible for a discount. For further information, please visit the official website.

On behalf of the SABF team, we would like to help you write your essay, so that you can participate of the SABF. That’s why we encourage you to visit the “Essays from Past Editions” section of our website. There, you will find three essays written by past participants for our previous editions. We hope you find them useful! Be aware, however, that these are meant to be used just as a guide, since our panel of independent juries will evaluate the originality of your contributions.
Remember that this year’s main topic is “New Paradigms, New Challenges“, and the three subtopics on which you may focus your essay are: “Education and Collaboration: A new approach to development”, “Environment and Sustainability: From discussion to action” and “Opportunities in a changing economy”.
There are only 7 days left to upload your essay. We hope that you can participate of such a unique experience!
Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any doubts. Just send an email to students@sabf.org.ar
