SABF in Global Giving

Two weeks ago Martin (SABF´s director) participated on the Global Engagement Summit (GES), a conference that took place at Northwestern University- Evanston, Chicago. One of its goals is to provide opportunities to access different types of resources to the projects presented by participants.

The SABF generates its own financial resources, by the economical support of private companies and institutions that share the spirit of the congress, thus, we have decided to take part on one of GES´ proposals: Global Giving. Global Giving is marketplace that connects people who have community and world-changing ideas with people who can support them. They work with a network of well-run organizations and carefully research their projects – gathering detailed information on the project leaders, as well as the projects’ objectives and expected outcomes. They connect the donors with the preojects.

Why those wimpish Brazilians are catching up with Argentina’s racier economy

My dad sent me this interesting article from The Economist.

After reading this article it seems obvious why development in Argentina is not working. A lot of policies taken by the government are aimed towards preventing short term consequences, but they are not looking into the future. What type of country are they leaving to us?
When you start searching about this kind of matter, you realize that everything could change, how? Only changing the kind of decision makers we have now ruling our country. Is it possible? I hope more honest and ethical people are being raised, I’m hoping our generation won’t repeat past mistakes… hope is just the starting point, from there, we need real actions. As a member of the SABF staff, we are trying to make a difference, I think, by getting involved. Maybe it seems utopist and adolescent, but in my opinion, that’s the only way to make good things happen.

Fortunately, there are some countries in South America which understood the importance of vision and they are building their future, such as Brazil or Chile. When all Latin-American countries will be pulling in the same direction?

Business Today International Conference

We would like to share with you an international business conference organized by students from Princeton University.

The Business Today International Conference provides a unique and valuable opportunity for college students to meet, interact, and learn from high level executives and political leaders. Held in the heart of New York City, it brings together 150 students from across the country and around the world to discuss and share perspectives on relevant business issues, and benefit from the knowledge and experience of current world leaders.

The Conference is organized into a format of both keynote speeches and intimate executive seminars, and each student is guaranteed the opportunity to speak personally with the executives in attendance. The Conference is an all-expenses paid event for the selected students, less a small administrative fee. Attendance is highly selective, with over 1000 applicants for 150 spots.

This year it will take place in New York on November 23nd to 25th under the topic: “The Dynamics of Leadership: Transformation and Innovation in the 21st Century“. To apply, students must answer one of the three questions you can find in the application form in 250 words or less. The application deadline is on 25th May.

Hope you will take advantage of this great opportunity!
